Why the project happened
A farm group with a large poultry operation wanted to convert chicken manure from a disposal cost into a saleable granular organic fertilizer, while controlling odor and producing a consistent product for local farmers.
What the customer faced
These are the specific issues the project was built to solve.
- Fresh manure was high in moisture and produced strong odors during storage
- Fermentation was uncontrolled, so product stability and pathogen control were uncertain
- Previous attempts with a single granulator produced soft, dusty granules
- No drying or cooling meant granules caked in storage
- The farm had no trained fertilizer plant operators
Limits we designed around
Real projects are never ideal. These constraints shaped the configuration and delivery plan.
- Available land for fermentation lanes was limited
- Budget favored a staged investment (fermentation + powder first, granular later)
- Local electricity was stable but limited in capacity
- Product had to be simple to operate and maintain on the farm
Why we configured it this way
We designed the line around the moisture problem. Groove compost turners with aeration brought the manure to a stable, drier condition; moisture conditioning before granulation protected the granulator; a new-type organic granulator was chosen for the fiber content; and a matched dryer, cooler, screener and bagger completed the train. The layout was designed so the customer could start with the powder route and add the granular sections when volumes justified them.
How it was delivered
From requirements confirmation to commissioning - the key nodes of this project.
Site & material audit
Measured manure quantity, moisture and available land; confirmed fermentation area.
Line design
Produced fermentation-to-packing flow with a staged upgrade path.
Fabrication
Turners, granulator, dryer, cooler, screener and packer built and tested.
Installation & training
Installed with on-site training for farm operators, including fermentation control.
Commissioning
Ran at target capacity; granule quality and moisture verified over a full shift.
Difficult points and how we solved them
High-moisture manure would overload the dryer
Fermentation and conditioning were treated as the first dewatering step; the dryer was sized on the confirmed moisture basis.
Odor complaints from neighbors
Aeration and turning cycles were optimized; optional bio-filter interface included.
Limited operator experience
Step-by-step training, a simple control philosophy and a documented fermentation schedule.
What changed after delivery
Verifiable changes from this project. Where specific figures are confidential, we state the direction and the evidence.
- Full plant commissioned with on-site training
- Consistent granular organic fertilizer with controlled moisture
- Manure converted from disposal cost to revenue
- Customer expanded capacity within 2 years using the staged design
Project outcome
Полный завод запущен с обучением на площадке; клиент расширил мощность через 2 года.
What similar customers can learn
For farms converting manure, this case shows that fermentation discipline and moisture management decide the success of the whole line. Plan land and retention time first, start with the powder route if capital is tight, and design for the granular upgrade from day one.
